Denise has taught for 37 years in a private pre-school, in-district experimental Pre-K that served the needs of economically challenged and classified students, middle school math regular education and bridge class. She has worked with grades Pre-K to 6, in integrated and regular education classes. Her certifications include Students with Disabilities Grades N -12, and Generalist Grades N-6 with concentration in math. Denise Black's expertise is in teaching developmentally appropriate practices to students in regular education and students with disabilities. During her career, she participated in the Columbia Reading and Writing program, NYS assessment development in Albany, math leader training for state tests, Institute of Leadership Training for teaching mathematics and technology, mentor program, peer coaching and was honored with the SCOPE’s Teacher Service award. The Homework Club has been her responsibility in middle school. She has participated in professional development workshops, collaborating with colleagues, creating curriculum, sharing and analyzing student work, and modeling lessons for colleagues.
